Seedlings Green Guide at UC Davis
Want to be a part of creating a bright green future? Here's all you need to know about our campus and our city to help you make truly sustainable choices.
Travel & mobility
The city of Davis has a widespread system of bike lanes and bike parking – earning it the title of 'Bicycle Capital' of the US! Cycling resources on campus include the student-run Bike Barn. UC Davis offers students a free bus system for getting around campus, called Unitrans. There are plans to electrify the natural gas powered fleet, making this public transportation option even more sustainable.
All of our energy
Simple ways of saving energy include switching off lights when not in the room and unplugging appliances when not in use. But at UC Davis, the main challenge is the heat! There are ways of keeping inside spaces cool without having to run AC units and fans for long periods: close blinds to prevent sunlight from entering and heating up rooms, and ensure that ceiling fans, when on, spin counter-clockwise to help push the cool air down.
