Seedlings Green Guide at UC Davis
Want to be a part of creating a bright green future? Here's all you need to know about our campus and our city to help you make truly sustainable choices.
On my campus
UC Davis promotes sustainability in various ways. The Aggie Green pledge program encourages students, staff, and faculty to take sustainable actions, while the University of California-wide Cool Campus Challenge aims to help the UC system reach carbon neutrality by 2025. UC Davis also holds an annual Sustainability Summit and welcomes thoughts and suggestions on its sustainability programs via the Sustainability Culture Survey.
My city and state
Both the city of Davis and the state of California are at the forefront of climate adaptation and mitigation efforts, with the need to reduce greenhouse gases enshrined in local law. Davis aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2040; the city's 2020-2040 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan is currently open for review by the public.
What can I do?
The task of tackling climate change can at times seem overwhelming, but it is important that we remain hopeful as we navigate the challenges ahead. The world is full of positive stories that highlight how our creativity, solidarity, and engagement can help change mindsets and move environmental policies forwards. There is power in numbers and successes matter at all levels: whether it is something as big as your university divesting from fossil fuels, or as small as you turning down plastic bags at the grocery store, celebrate them all!
